Originally a one man business, Martin den Dunnen's Martin Projects, originated in Pretoria, Gauteng in 1990, starting small with additions and renovations for family, friends and acquaintances. In 1992, with projects in both Hoedspruit and Pretoria, a name change to Property Projects was effected. A love for the bush coupled with great opportunities in the Hoedspruit area, were the deciding factors to permanently relocate to Hoedspruit in 1998.
The one man business fast grew into a reputable, reliable building company within the greater Hoedspruit area, specialising in new homes, bush homes and lodges. The first taste for development came with the total infrastructure contract for the Sanctuary Development in Vilanculos, Mozambique and the building of Dugong Lodge.
When Raptors' View Wildlife Estate was launched in 2000, Property Projects was ready for the challenge and by 2004 had built approximately 60% of all the houses on the Estate. Martin was also involved in the design, finance and construction aspects of the Kamogelo Tourism Centre, which was completed in 2005. The same year saw Property Projects' first Sectional title development being undertaken to stimulate the affordable housing market in Hoedspruit. This development was named Khayagelo Village and is renowned for its healthy returns on investment.
In 2006 the famous Fort Coepieba Motel was demolished to make way for 93 sectional apartments and 2 new business complexes, Sunset Bay and Sunset View, one of which boasts Hoedspruit's first and only lift!
With the large and unique Zandspruit Estates Development in progress, along with partner Gerrit Jan van der Grijn, it made sense to amalgamate all the business concerns under one Zandspruit umbrella. Property Projects was dissolved in February 2009 and Zandspruit Construction was launched in March 2009.
In addition to the ongoing residential building activities, several civil works' contracts were also completed in 2009, i.e. reconstruction of the causeway across the Sandspruit rivier on Raptor's View and excavation and leveling of the Zandspruit airstrip.
A new name, but the same reliable, reputable construction company with a wealth of experience, some existing and some newly acquired. Gerrit Jan's speciality lies in civil construction and project management, which makes the combination of Martin and Gerrit Jan's knowledge and experience a winning formula.
